5 Steps to Kickstart Your Supplement Regimen

Starting a supplement regimen isn't as simple as going to Amazon, picking out a few healthy products, completing an order, and calling it a day.

The truth is, starting a successful supplement regimen takes thought, research, time, and patience to make sure you're on the right track and getting the results you truly want. That's why we're going to share five steps to help you get the most out of your next supplement regimen.

Step #1: Decide How You REALLY Want to Feel

This step might seem obvious at first glance. After all, the whole point of starting a supplement regimen is to feel healthy, right?

True as that is, the excitement of starting a health regimen can be so blinding that we lose sight of the specific results we want. That's why it's incredibly important to start your supplement regimen by isolating 2-3 specific aspects of your well-being that you want to focus on first.

What does a typical day feel like for you, and what are some of the most common annoyances you experience throughout it? For some of us, it's when our stomachs go haywire every time we eat a meal. For others, it's the snaps, crackles, and pops that happen every time we get out of bed. Or, it's how we always run out of energy before noon.

By considering how your current well-being impacts your day-to-day life, you'll be able to set clear goals that will narrow down your search.

Step #2: Talk to Your Doctor

This is the step that most people will drag their feet about, but it's a big one.

We're sure you know your body well, but your doctor knows it even better. So, we strongly recommend scheduling an appointment to discuss those 2-3 nagging issues you chose from step one. Your doctor will most likely ask you a few questions to understand the problems you're dealing with, and maybe perform a few examinations to find root causes.

The reason why this is a can't-miss step is simple. Sometimes, we need more than holistic supplements to handle health concerns. Depending on your health history and the severity of the issue, certain procedures or prescriptions might be the better method of getting your body in order.

But, if your doctor believes that supplements are a solid option for you, ask if there are any natural ingredients that could help and jot those down. But, if they don't suggest anything in particular, don't fret. That's what the next step is for!

Step #3: Do Some Ingredient Research

So, you've identified your problem areas, consulted a doctor, and have a better understanding of those 2-3 problem areas of your well-being.

Now, it's time for some ingredient research.

If you're not sure where to start, try searching for "best ingredients for (insert health concern here)." That way, you'll start building a list of ingredients you can research in more detail.

During your ingredient research, one of the things you'll notice is some ingredients provide multiple benefits, which is a major plus when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck.

For instance, if you're looking into Omega-3s for heart health, you'll find out that Omega-3s also support skin, immune, and brain health. Sure, those extra benefits don't fit in with your 2-3 goals, but it can't hurt to have a few bonus benefits either, right? The more, the merrier!

Just be sure that you're getting your information from reputable sources. As they say, just because it's on the internet doesn't always make it true.

Once you're finished looking into the ingredients, taking your notes, and choosing your must-haves, you're ready for the next big step.

Step #4: It's Shopping Time

With your research out of the way, it's finally time to shop. Woot!

As you know, there are thousands of different supplements at your disposal online, so it's perfectly understandable to feel overwhelmed at first. But, this is why the first three steps we covered come in handy.

With your 2-3 problem areas, doctor's advice, and ingredient research in tow, it'll be easier to weed out the products that don't fit your needs, as well as the ones that make false claims to fool people into a purchase.

Eventually, you'll start finding supplements that meet your criteria for ingredients and benefits, including a few that include a few bonus ingredients in their blends. More often than not, that's a good thing! However, just make sure that those blends include enough milligrams of the key ingredient(s) you're looking for. If you're unsure about how many milligrams you need of an ingredient, you can always go back and do more research.

Another thing you'll see is that supplements come in all kinds of forms. Tablets, capsules, liquids, powders, and even chewables are just a few examples of what you'll find on Amazon and other online retailers. Our advice? Start with the simple stuff like capsules, tablets, and chewables before trying liquids or powders - especially if you're new to supplements.

Lastly, you'll want to take a look at user reviews to see if the supplements you're considering purchasing are as good as they claim to be. Let's just say that not all supplements are as they seem, so be sure to read up on how other shoppers feel about the supplement before you make a call.

Step #5: Stay Consistent & Don't Get Impatient

Of all the steps we've covered, this is quite possibly the most important one of them all.

Unfortunately, many people end up forgetting to take their supplements regularly. Or in other cases, some people purposely stop taking them because they don't feel immediate results. Don't make the same mistakes!

When it comes to taking supplements, consistency is key to getting the results you want. Otherwise, your body can't fully absorb the ingredients you're putting into our system, and you'll feel the same as usual. So, don't let up!
